Field Trip! Los Angeles Arboretum

I try to take my own reference photos whenever I can, so I took some time out to visit the Los Angeles Arboretum for some botanical inspiration. Do you remember the 70’s TV show Fantasy Island with Ricardo Montalban and Hervé Villechaize? The house with the tower featured in the opening credits where Tatoo rings a bell and shouts, “De plane, de plane!” is located at the Arboretum. Of course, I was so distracted with flowers and plants that I forgot to take a photo of the house, but there’s a photo and information about the house, known as the Queen Anne Cottage, on the Arboretum’s website.

It was great to be out and about, and I took a ton of photos, including some of my peacock friend below. I’m sure he’ll be working his way into one of my designs for Surtex soon.
